Getting Your Electrical Items Ready for Winter
You might think it sounds a little odd saying we need to get our electrical appliances ready for winter, but this is actually a good step to ensuring your home is safer from electrical fires, short circuits and other dangers associated with electricity.
One of the main causes of electrical faults in appliances is the cable becoming worn or frayed. You should check the cables on your appliances regularly to make sure there are no damaged spots which could cause issues with the flow of electricity. This is especially important if you use your appliances outside!
Other things to check routinely is that you do not have too many appliances all plugged in via one extension lead. There should always be as few appliances using one socket as possible, as the more things plugged in, the more likely you are to overheat, cause fires or short out.
